At 'OWLS' we adhere to the following policies:

  • To ensure that pupils are safe, at ease, happy and enthusiastic about excelling in english, during tutorials and at school.

  • To increase pupils' confidence and independence when using skills they have learnt through tuition.

  • To assist and advise pupils on coursework, exam technique and revision in order to prepare and support them through tests and exams.

  • To maintain communication with parents to discuss pupils' progress.

Setting Standards and Child Safety Issues

All tutors with 'OWLS' are qualified teachers with University degrees, specialising in the teaching of English. Tutors are interviewed and chosen for their sensitivity to pupils and commitment  to encouraging children to excel.

Tutors are only accepted at 'OWLS' after the following proceedures:

  • The tutor undergoes an enhanced disclosure Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. The enhanced disclosure not only checks for convictions but it also uncovers any allegations or complaints. We do not take on tutors with any convictions, allegations or complaints.

  • The tutor provides a passport/driving licence/birth certificate and letter confirming their address.

  • Professional and character references are checked and approved.
